Olivia Wilde on ‘humbling’ divorce from Tao Ruspoli: ‘For the first time I’m a little bit wobbly’
13 July, 2011 · Posted by Jennifer under Interviews · No Comments

Consistently linked to Hollywood’s finest bachelors, it’s easy to forget Olivia Wilde’s only been single for a couple months.

The “Cowboys and Aliens” star, 27, finalized her divorce from her husband of eight years, Tao Ruspoli, last March, and in the August issue of Marie Claire she revealed it’s been hard to leave that life behind.

“The trauma of the [divorce] has been humbling,” she told the magazine. “And for the first time, I’m a little wobbly. I’m a case of arrested development, in a way — from spending your 20s with someone who really loves to take care of you, as my husband did.”

“But I think it’s very healthy to spend time alone,” added the actress, who has recently been linked to Ryan Gosling, Jake Gyllenhaal and Chris Pine. “You need to know how to be alone and not be defined by another person.”

And though she still considers Ruspoli family, Wilde says it was clear their marriage was headed in the wrong direction.

“When the relationship becomes about working to make it work, it’s lost that beauty and that optimistic bohemian sense that brought us together,” she reflected.

“I kept saying, ‘I failed!’ Admitting that I’m not perfect was a wonderful thing that came out of this,” she said. “There’s this fear that everyone is going to be disappointed in you, but I’m human. I don’t live up to any sort of ideal.”

And she added, “Even though it didn’t work, there’s nothing I regret about any of it.”

On her own for the first time in eight years, Wilde said she’s having to learn the rules of the dating world all over again. “It’s funny — my friends would always come to me for romantic advice, [but] I know nothing. Things have changed since I was dating in high school!”

“[But] I’m really tyring hard to spend this time working on myself,” she added.

And Wilde doesn’t just have her sights set on self improvement; she wants to see bigger changes, too.

“I’d like to refocus everyone’s attention away from the Kardashians and onto Doctors Without Borders or aid workers,” she revealed. “Let’s redefine scandal. Scandal is not who so-and-so is dating; scandal is the fact that 1.2 million people are still living in tents in Haiti.”

“If the average 15-year-old girl was hearing about that instead of so-and-so’s plastic surgery or cheating in Hollywood,” she said, “I’d feel better about our future.”

Cowboys & Aliens Interviews: Olivia Wilde Has a Hard Head
12 July, 2011 · Posted by Jennifer under Interviews, Videos · No Comments

That’s what the doctor at the ER said after she was thrown from a horse on the set of Cowboys & Aliens and bounced back without missing a beat. She was as tough as they come. She was one of the most experienced riders in the cast and volunteered to try whatever the stunt team deemed safe, including a cable pull from a crane out of the saddle, mid-gallop.

In this third installment of the Cowboys & Aliens Interviews, I sat with Olivia Wilde whom I got to know very well over the course of the movie. These conversations are a snapshot of what life is like for a star on the rise. This is one of those wonderful moments where you get a sense of who a person is developing into at the cusp of a prolific career. We cover a variety of topics including not only her growing body of work but also where her passions lie outside of show business.

‘Cowboys & Aliens’ stars to walk red carpet at Comic-Con
6 July, 2011 · Posted by Jennifer under Alerts, Events · No Comments

Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford and Olivia Wilde are scheduled to walk the red carpet at San Diego’s Civic Theatre downtown as “Cowboys & Aliens” makes its world premiere at Comic-Con on July 23. The movie, directed by Jon Favreau, will debut nationwide the next week.

The red carpet begins at 7 p.m. and the movie at 8. No tickets are available to the general public, although 2,000 fans from Comic-Con will be able to attend.

“I owe the fans at Comic-Con so much, and it is only right that they are the first people who will get to see ‘Cowboys & Aliens,’” Favreau said in a statement. “By bringing the world premiere of the movie to San Diego, it’s my small way of thanking them.”

Olivia Wilde Talks About Jon Favreau’s ‘Cowboys & Aliens’
5 July, 2011 · Posted by Jennifer under Films, Interviews · No Comments

In a recent chinwag with Totalfilm, Olivia Wilde spoke on a range of subjects pertaining to her role, Ella, in the upcoming sci-fi western ‘Cowboys & Aliens.’ Talking about undertaking the action side of her role Wilde revealed: “The stunt co-ordinator said, ‘I’ve never pulled an actor off a moving horse. Do you want to do it?’ Stunt guys always get to know me very quickly because I love stunts and they said, ‘If anyone can do it, Olivia can…’”

Olivia Wilde also spoke on working with Daniel Craig after missing out on ‘Casino Royale’: “I screen-tested for that and I wanted it so badly. “But now I’m happy it didn’t work out because we wouldn’t have been able to do this, and I think he agreed that this was a better pairing for us. Daniel Craig taught me a lot. He taught me about stillness and silence… he does very little and it’s very impressive.”

Opening up about her characters role in the film Olivia Wilde declared: “She’s not just the love interest. She’s not simply sultry. She has a lot in common with Jake and she’s watching him very closely, because any clues he can give her as to where he’s been will help her on her journey. She’s been hiding in the town. She wants to fade into the shadows and only comes out when Jake arrives.”

‘Cowboys & Aliens’ will be hitting cinemas July 29th 2011 in the US, and August 12th in the UK. The film follows a stranger (Daniel Craig) who has no memory of his past as stumbles into the hard desert town of Absolution. The only hint to his history is a mysterious shackle that encircles one wrist. What he discovers is that the people of Absolution don’t welcome strangers, and nobody makes a move on its streets unless ordered to do so by the iron-fisted Colonel Dolarhyde (Harrison Ford). It’s a town that lives in fear. But Absolution is about to experience fear it can scarcely comprehend as the desolate city is attacked by marauders from the sky. Screaming down with breathtaking velocity and blinding lights to abduct the helpless one by one, these monsters challenge everything the residents have ever known.

Olivia Wilde Fronts L.A. Times Magazine
30 June, 2011 · Posted by Jennifer under Alerts, Magazines · No Comments

olivia wilde la magazine A smoldering Olivia Wilde returns to her natural-blonde roots for the latest issue of L.A. Times magazine—and, oh, how the old Hollywood style suits her.

The actress sports major Veronica Lake curls (in a shade decidedly lighter than her usual rich brunette hair), deep-red lips, and smoky eyes for the cover image, perfectly paired with a plunging Valentino dress and layered Kara Ross, Gucci, and Chanel necklaces.

Inside the glossy, things are just as glam, with Wilde wearing Marchesa, dotty Stella McCartney, and yet more Chanel.

But as good as the stunner looks in a show-stopping dress, she insists that her real calling is helping others—particularly in Haiti, where Wilde has been working with the nonprofit Artists for Peace and Justice. “Whenever I want to say, ‘F–k Hollywood,’ I have to remember that the reason I am even useful in Haiti is because I have a job here,” she tells the magazine.

Not only is the beauty on board for the fifth season of House, Wilde also executive-produced two documentaries, both about the rebuilding of Haiti, and talks about how she’s “come into her own” within the industry.

“It’s a sort of thrilling confidence,” she says. “You have to enjoy the unknown. You have to relish it.”

23 June, 2011 · Posted by Jennifer under News · No Comments

OLIVIA WILDE Olivia Wilde has placed #12 on the “Top 15 Actresses Under 30″ by LoveFilm! She is a new entry on the list this year – so she placed high for her first time!

12. OLIVIA WILDE

Age: 27
New Entry

Daughter of Alexander and Leslie Cockburn, Olivia Wilde is more than just a pin up. That should become clear over the next few months as she turns up in her second blockbuster (Cowboys & Aliens), her first comedies (Butter, with Hugh Jackman, and The Change Up, with Ryan Reynolds and Justin Bateman), and her first sci-fi film – Andrew Niccol’s In Time, with Justin Timberlake. Then next year we will see her in a thriller by the director of The Counterfeiters (Blackbird), and something called Welcome to the People. In other words, she’s busy, and we’ll be seeing a lot more of her.
